The Executive Team
Lily Slaughter
co-Founder | Chief Executive Officer
Lily was just 18 when she first got involved in this work, and from that moment, it became her greatest passion. Since her first visit to Bali in 2017, she has built deep connections within the community, immersing herself in Balinese culture and becoming fluent in Bahasa Indonesia. With a background in sociology, she brings a deep understanding of social systems and a hands-on approach to leading The Suwandi Foundation.
For Lily, this isn’t just a nonprofit—it’s family. She lives in the community she serves, working alongside local leaders to create meaningful, lasting impact and has been a proud witness of the growth of The Suwandi Foundation both in the U.S. and Bali.
“Every day, I see the power of education in action—kids growing more confident, families gaining new opportunities, and our community becoming stronger. This work isn’t just about programs or numbers; it’s about real people and real change.
This community is my family, and I feel so incredibly grateful to stand beside eachother, learning together, and working for something that has real impact.”
Kaitlynn Pimentel
co-Founder | Chief operating Officer
Kaitlynn first came to Bali in 2019 and never looked back. With a background in entrepreneurship and a deep passion for using business as a force for good, she quickly found her purpose in education and community development. Now pursuing a master’s in International Education Development, she brings fresh ideas and big-picture thinking to The Suwandi Foundation.
This project is her baby—one she’s nurtured with creativity, strategy, and heart. From reimagining programs to building sustainable impact, Kaitlynn plays a key role in shaping the foundation’s future. She believes that education, when paired with innovation, can break cycles of poverty and open doors to limitless possibilities.
“Every day, I wake up knowing that the work I do helps remove roadblocks for children- barriers that shouldnt have ever been there in the first place. When we started Suwandi Foundation, we came in with all the passion in the world. That passion is still just as strong—only now, we have more experience, more knowledge, and an even deeper understanding of what it takes to create lasting change.
At this point, I live and breathe international aid and organizational development, and I couldn’t be more excited to keep growing the impact of the Suwandi Foundation.
I Gede Agus Antara
Co-Founder Yayasan LMU | Project Director
Agus and his wife, Putu, started Yayasan LMU with a shared vision: to make education accessible to all children, no matter their circumstances. With a background in accounting and extensive experience in project management at Yayasan Widya Sari, Agus brings both strategy and heart to his leadership.
A proud girl dad and a dedicated community advocate, Agus is more than just a leader—he’s a voice for his neighbors. He believes in education as a powerful tool for change, especially in times of economic hardship. For him, every small effort in social work and education has the potential to create lasting impact.
Through Yayasan LMU, Agus continues to build bridges between education and opportunity, ensuring that children and families have the support they need to dream big and build a better future.
“When we share knowledge, we are equipping others to become independent and grow. The knowledge we provide continues to spread and create long-term benefits. Even if we cannot help everyone at once, a small change in one person’s life can be the beginning of something greater. When we share knowledge, we are equipping others to become independent and grow.”
Ni Luh Eka Sugiarni (Putu)
Co-Founder Yayasan LMU | Education director
Putu has been working alongside The Suwandi Foundation since the very beginning, she is a role model of powerful women in her community and has been a guiding light in education initiatives within her community. With a background as a public school teacher (currently still teaching high school English classes!) and former director of Yayasan Widya Sari’s after-school learning center, she brings years of experience in shaping meaningful education programs.
Coming from a family of educators and now raising three children of her own, Putu understands the value of learning—not just as a tool for success but as a way to open doors and create opportunities. Having once faced financial barriers to education herself, she is deeply committed to ensuring that no child is held back from learning because of their circumstances.
“I still vividly remember how I felt when I couldn’t continue my education due to financial limitations. I don’t want any child to go through the same experience as I did. Education is the right of every child. While education does not guarantee success, it is one of the paths that lead to it.
When I was young, I didn’t dare to dream, but now I always tell children: Dream big, think big. You are bigger than you think. Everything is possible if you believe in it.”

Lia Chen
From an early age, school was more than just a place of learning — it was a source of inspiration and empowerment. Now, as an educator and mentor, I strive to foster that same environment of discovery and growth for others.
My experiences as a student, educator, and traveler have deepened my dedication for global learning and my commitment to creating equitable opportunities for children worldwide. This passion drives my work at the Suwandi Foundation, where I strive to empower the next generation to become passionate learners and advocates for meaningful change.
VOlunteer Coordinator
I Komang Ari Gunarta (Mang Ari)
My name is Komang Ari, I joined Yayasan LMU and Suwandi Foundation in 2023 as the volunteer coordinator. My job is to help create your visa, arrange your arrival in Bali, and organize all the volunteer activities while in Bali! This is a fun job for me, because I can meet many friends from various countries and can practice English every day.
This is my first experience working using English, and similarly to the students at Yayasan LMU, I as a staff member can really feel the impact of learning English with volunteers. I am very grateful to all the volunteers who have come to Yayasan LMU and I am excited to meet more!

Pratiwi Audita Anggraeni (Pratt)
Having an educational background in Indonesia, I was astonished by the significant differences in education systems. The experiences I have encountered both here and in my previous environment have made me realize the importance of basic knowledge about the necessity of equal and accessible education for every person.
This awareness has motivated me to work with the Suwandi Foundation, where I can contribute by educating and telling the children about the importance of pursuing education as a crucial step toward creating a positive impact on their future.
