Student Sponsorship FAQ’s

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

Each Student Sponsorship Costs $40 per month. We strive to run a transparent organization with the goal of ensuring that each and every student we work with has equitable access to support. Your monthly $40 contribution will ensure that regardless of age or ability, the students who need support can be assisted by order of need.

How do you calculate the cost of a sponsorship?

Based on the starting point of sponsorship, the number of years the child still has to attend school is calculated. An average monthly amount is calculated by including the estimated inflation and increases in school fees per year (including uniforms and books included). We do this so that the sponsors pay a fixed amount per month during their sponsorship. Initially, the child thus receives more money than necessary for the school fees at the time and overtime, less. That extra money at the beginning is accurately set aside and kept in the accounts so that this saved money can be used when the school fees exceed the donations. Donations are tax-deductible.

How long am I committing for?

Ideally, a child sponsorship lasts for the duration of a school year, but this is flexible. If you have to quit your sponsorship, we will find a new sponsor for the child. In any event, the Suwandi Foundation ensures that a child will never be forgotten when a sponsorship is discontinued.

Can I visit my sponsored student?

You are more than welcome to visit one of our Learning Centers to meet your student. Please note that unannounced visits are not acceptable. Please reach out to us at info@suwandifoundation.org to receive more information on meeting your sponsored student.
